okay, its freaking unusual for me to blog twice in a day,
but compared to how funny the world can be, it really is not worthy of mention.
and no this is NOT a depressing post.
rather a very funny one.
i was in the library just now, during lunch from 1 to 2.
i passed by many year 1 students.
and how do i know they are year 1 students?
from the glitz, smooth and shiny surfaces of their reflective LCD screens,
as well as the scratch-free black cover of their laptops,
together with the near unused compact keyboards.
its really funny watching them use their laptops.
it seems like its the most holy thing in the world, and should be treated with utmost respect.
and to compound it, i saw a girl, using her new laptop, accessed Mozilla Firefox.
I could tell that she wanted to go to some website, but i don't know what.
from the way she was tapping on her keyboard is like as though
oh-i-must-not-over-press-the-keys-or-the-laptop-would-explode.
like hello????
it was so hilarious watching her press the keys on her laptop that i would LOVE to stand behind here and watch her fuss over the pressure she should use on her keys, precise to the mili-newton.
but i guess it wouldnt be long before their laptops lose their shine and become so scratched that even the creases on our palms have to literally, take their hands off it.
LOL.
okay i admit i'm speaking from experience..
like my laptop.. used to be silvery-grey inside, with the black carbon cover so perfect, so flawless.
and my keypads, with the nice contrast between the black background and the white markings on them. they too, had the same pressure-sensitive nature that i made up in the hysteria that i actually OWNED a laptop.
and it used to be treated gently, like a baby.
like as though if i moved it suddenly or with huge motor movements, the parts inside would explode to smithereens.
it used to have regular 'screen-wash' with a wet piece of tissue paper.
and used to have dry cleaning too, with again, a humble tissue paper.
hey, its the thought that counts.
oh and yes, i forgot to add, the battery was in perfect working order. (read: WAS)
oh oh, and the touch-pads were so clean, that not a single micro-organism can be found.
in short, if was PERFECT.
BUT... the terrible BUT..
the silvery grey frame became tainted with black particles that could have spawned a new life form.
the black outer cover fared slightly better, with a few fingerprint marks (free fingerprint ID should i lose my laptop), but minus- the shine.
the white markings faded to grey, the slightly roughed keypads turned smooth through constant rubbing from typing. (with the occasional banging due to stress from playing dotA).
the pressure sensitive keypads suddenly began to disappear, only to be replaced by ultra-durable-keyboard-which-can-take-any-types-of-physical-abuse.
i started to stop treating it like a baby and subject it to abuses like throwing it on the bed, carelessly banging my laptop onto hard surfaces.
that way i know if the manufacturer had been lying with their claims on 'shock-proof', 'spill-proof' and 'impact-proof' or something.
the screen-washes disappeared, to be replaced by something called 'neglect'.
the battery become permanently detached from my laptop because it was damaged.
so it feels lighter. ahh yes, 1 good point about wear and tear, finally.
the touch pads became a food source for micro-bacteria, and it could possibly be a new habitat for the black particles on my silvery-grey laptop frame.
and ohh.. i cannot wait to see what happens to those year 1s with their shiny laptops.
i am secretly waiting for their laptops to turn out worse than me,
and i hope their laptops would age faster than my 2 year old toddler laptop,
by over-using their laptops everyday in school, for games and school work.
plus the extra burden on their beloved babies with carrying it around, there by hastening the rate of wear and tear.
HAHA yes, i am a laptop sadist.
but wait, i think i'm just jealous :D
