i am so fortunate.
to be able bodied.
to have a complete family.
to be have a family that is relatively financially stable.
to have healthy parents and sister.
to have a home.
to have a room.
to have a computer.
maybe sometimes i take things for granted, as though its my birth right.
sadly, it ain't.
and this is what makes the world sometimes a terrible world.
man. i will cherish this moment.
these years that i can say im relatively contented.
i hope it will stay.

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life!
Went canoeing with friends for PDP (personal development programme) during the hols organised by SP.
MAN IT WAS DARN FUN!
Ok, the first part on theory and preparatory work is probably quite boring.
Luckily and thankfully, it only lasted for about 1/2 hr.
Next, we had to practise the strokes of kayaking, how to break, how to reverse, bring ourselves forward to prepare us for our canoeing later in the morning.
This went on until about 11am.
Firstly we had to bring the kayaks down from the racks.
ARrrrrrr it was super heavy. Probably even heavier than me!
Then, we had to take our paddles, put it in the cockpit and carry our 2 seater kayaks down into the sea through a ramp in the poly marina.
Man! That took alot out of me!
We had to step into the seawater, with the waterlevel up to my waist.
Only then, could we let go of the kayak and enter the floathing kayak.
After both me and daniel were on the kayak, it was totally cool!
We paddled and paddled and tried to maintain a straight course.
Haha.. of cuz.. being beginners the boat went off course most of the time and we had to swerve the kayak time and time again, tiring us in the process!!
After we had broken in to our smaller groups, we learnt braking, j stroke, and some other funny strokes that i didnt know existed haha...
Soon, it was time for lunch. Nisa, her friend, daniel, kumar, mishal and me went to mac donalds for lunch. Far man! the bloody mac... but anway.. no choice.. we went there and had our lunch before heading back to the poly marina.
Then, the fun part!
We learnt sea entry and exit from the kayak.
It actually means getting off the kayak into the sea which is known in canoeing terms as sea entry.
Sea exit simple means getting away from the sea, and into the kayak.
Then.. it was my turn... ahha...
nisa and i actually jumped off the boat and into the sea..
haha.. i took lesser time to get on kayak than nisa ok!
haha..
then.. we were all wet.. totally!
but it was fun.. totally fun...
and my and nisa just kayaked around.. disturbing kumar and nisa's friend by splashing water around them.. ahha.. sea water which was polluted with petrol k!
hhaha.. :p
Then time to go off!
We paddled back to the bay and carried our boats up the bay to be stacked on the racks.
We than took a shower and headed home, tired with wet shoes on!
Man! that feeling really sucks..
but then again.. that was probably the only downside we had for the canoeing..
This has to be one of the best days of my life.
It offers a refreshing break from slacking at home and having no life.
Everything is fun on that day.
Nothing, can truly describe my feelings, my happiness, and wat so ever feeling that i felt on yesterday, that very day.
:p hehe.. canoeing is fun ok! everyone who has the chance must try it!
i also hope to kayak more often ... lol
argh!!! the agony!

Oh My God!
Sun Burns can not only be painful, but also TERRIBLY ITCHY!
Imagine last night. I tired to sleep, but to no avail. The itch was almost unbearable. Tingly sensations on my skin coupled with pain and itchyness almost made me scream out in agony.
The itch, especially, is like a bug, slowly spreading within my body. The more i scratch and try to tolerate it, the worst it gets.
Just imagine. It kept me awake throughout the night, with a couple of hours of sleep inbetween, punctuating the constant itchyness and pain that i had to endure.
Luckily, today the itch subsided. Everything is almost gone, with only a minute amount of pain left in my skin.
Tomorrow and sunday is canoeing day!
Doctor advised me to put on a thick layer of sun block, as well as applying some white cream.
He also gave me a pill that is said to be good in preventing sun burns.
It was a new drug man!
It was almost a miracle pill for me.
With the new drug and plently of sunblock tomorrow, UV rays, you are not entering my body via my skin again!
todays celebration of ah ma's birthday!
Wednesday, April 20, 2005
Today is ah ma birthday (ah ma aka sharon, our good friend)
We had lunch, which was spaghetti!
Hmm... the black pepper spaghette tasted delicious!
It was spicy enough, and the texture of the spaghetti was perfect!
However, the downside was that the spaghette was a little too dry.
Putting some black pepper sauce would be purrrrfect.
After which a myraid of activities started. I can't remember all, but it was certainly very fun.
Splashing of water at ah ma, and a slack in the face by some whipped cream , courtesy of me :D
She had actually bot me calamine lotion! it was because she actually rubbed my sun burnt skin when i asked her to help me apply some lotion!
haha i didnt noe that she was actually kind enuff to get me a bottle.
oh well, i didnt feel a tweeny bit of guiltiness but heck, the present me and jj shared and bought for her more than made up for it :p
We had mahjong, watched tv, used the computer.
Ahh!! Finally, dinner time has came. Instead of usual dinner stuff, we had a BIGGGGGGGG serving of dessert!
It was made of sara lee, pocky chocolate sticks, fresh mango and vanilla ice cream!
Didn't know that these combination were so delicious!
The saralee chocolate pound cake was a little too much! Thanks to JJ who said 1 box wasn't enuff
Anyways, would like to say that the dessert was delicious :D
Kelly's a far better cook than fungus, right! :p
Then a series of sabo began... actually wanted to sabo kelly!
But due to bad planning by henen aka fungus, it sort of failed
Oh well, at least she got wet.
Then again, we got wet too! haha.. junjie for no reason threw the bombs at duno who which trigged the 'internal battle' haha...
yea.. it was fun..
took a bus home. 27 followed by 28.
All along, my skin felt sore and painful! it was aggravated by fungus grip on my neck and shoulders for 'accidentatly' stumbling onto her blog :P
ARgh... pain pain painful skin, please leave me but may the tan remain, please? :D
Haha.. havent blogged for a couple of days now...
Shall blog 2 days worth of events at one go..
-Yesterday-
Met up at benedicts house at Bedok before heading off for a swim in his condo.
Imagine my apprehension when i saw the swimming pool.
I havent swam in close to 7 years!
Luckily, my friends started to get ready for the swim before i decided to also, remove my clothing and jump in the pool with a pair of esss p.e shorts.
It was only about 5 mins before the security guard came. What a bummer.
"Eh... you all wearining shorts or swimming trunks?"
"..."
"This one can. He is wearing trunks. You all not wearing right? Get up" (refering to one of my friends that wore trunks. He was the only one that had trunks on the first round)
"..."
"Ok.. no choice lor.. just go up la.. see if the guard leave later then we try again"
haha. evil me.
Close to 5 mins and the guard left for his lunch break.
"Benedict, go in swim with ure shorts la.. u the resident here wat"
"ok la gime take off my shirt first."
SWOOOSH
He had dived into the pool.
Then, another lady guard came.
"hey wat you doing? whose the resident here"
"me"
"u noe cannot wear shorts and swim or not? must wear proper attire u know?"
"aiya.. last time my friend come wear shorts oso nothing happen"
"last time is last time, now is now."
ARgh! Can't they give it a break?
Anyway, we went to benedicts house to get some trunks
Pretty amazing that he actually has 4. LoL. dang. he could only find 2.
Zh and Gt wore their own ones, while me and samuel wore benedicts one.
Problem solved. After which, we had a hell of a time!
We were laming around in the pool, competing who could hold their breath longer and stuff like that.
And guess what? I have acquired a new skill! Swimming - Level 1
Freestyle - Level 1
Backstroke - Level 2
Hurray! With a new skill learnt, courtesy of GQ for teaching me, i was actually swimming around, not wading!
After several hours, we were tired and hungry and decided to stop.
We went for lunch, afterwhich, dicussing about the chalet.
So my friends went home, while i met another group of friends for kbox.
Hehe.. it was the first time i have been to kbox, so naturally, i was excited!!!
The room is sooo comfortable! The microphone and speakers were wonderful!
The interior was very beautifully designed and sofa perfectly placed.
-my skin started to tinge when i was in the kbox room-
In short, it was heaven. I sung my lungs out with kwok him. Only junjie didnt sing.
He was the 'audience'. Haha pretty lame i guess.
Kbox certainly is fun! Should go there more often. The price is reasonable too! :P
After all the singing and swimming, me, jj and kwok him accompanied fungus to get a present for ah ma.
We then went to eat yoshinoya before buying the present. Quite expensive sia they eat. I didnt eat cuz i was still full from the late lunch i had.
Thought being a girl, she would normally take a looooooooooooooooooong time to get a present for ah ma. It turns out, she bot 1 item from the first shop she entered and another item in the second shop!
Wow! Hehe.. looks like shes not a girl after all.. :p
Wah! After a whole day outside, i was complete shagged when i got home!
OMG! MY whole body, especially my back, is still now covered with sun burn!!!
My shoulders bore the brunt, with it being BRIGHT red! ARgh! My legs and nose were not spared either!
I took a bath, read the papers, a little bit of tv and comp and POOF! i was on the bed at 11.45pm and fell asleep before 12!
Haha, miracle right, considering my skin still hurts from the sun burn :(
Considered early judging by the time i sleep every day :S
life... at home!

Exams have been over for a few days now, and i must admit, that i used to be happy to stay home for the hols.
After a few days,
IT AIN'T NO FUN ANY MORE!
Argh... life at home really sucks.
NOthing to look forwaRd to (except the release of my grades).
Sleep and wake up, computer, eat, tv, xbox, sleep.
Meh.... wished i could find work but then again i'm pretty lazy to adapt to the new environment Lol..
Bored BOred BOred. Any outdoor activities? Any games or gathering or wat so ever?

Man! What an exciting 2 weeks of exams. Whew
I just finished my paper this morning. What module can it be.. but ECONOMICS..
In case some of you all are wondering wat is econs about, well i can tell you that its pretty lame, boring at times, and its something you cannot understand easily. Oh and its very conceptual. :(
In short, if you are sane, dun take econs!
-back to reality-
Haha anyway was really happy that my exams are finally over!
Heh, bet u all didnt noe, i actually studied for all the papers :):)
Some times till 1, sometimes till 2, depending on what time i start and surprsingly, i find my self more of a night person :)
Bah, my new found knowledge, coupled with the easy exam papers really boosted my morale.
Finally, no Ds i thought.
MEH! Fat hope.
All i can do is to pray that I can pass statistics. After all, its maths and maybe its hard to fail a maths subject in the poly right? :p
PACC and MOB was more of a breeze compared to econs. Hehe don't ask why... i juz feel that way :)
---------------Wat am i doing? Comparing papers when its over? GET A LIFE------------
Right. I have a life.
What shall i do for the next 6 weeks? Work? Rot at home? Play?
I just cannot decide. Of course, for now, i cannot express my jubilance on finally, finishing year 1, barring any failing of modules that is :S. This, i certainly do not want!
Newayz yea... this is a lame entry.. but what to do? i'm lame!
i'll continue with the argumentative piece when i find a new topic to talk about.. Ideas please? Tag them in the board :) Appreciate it!
Hey! Sup! Are you guys good? :)
Hope that you all like my blog :p
Exams have finished today, and by right i should start blogging again.
However, i am not in the blogging mood today :D
I'll blog some other time kz?
Take care and till next time!
BGR vs singlehood
Thursday, April 07, 2005
I have realised, at the age of 18, many people, including some of my closer friends have began investigating and pursuing something that was once taboo, just a few years back.
No, i am not talking about sex or pre-marital sex here. I am talking something less taboo here, not as serious or interesting as sex. It is one that may or may not lead to sex. That is, boy girl relationship a.k.a girlfriend/boyfriend or in local terms your 'stead'.
What is it that people long for that can be found in a girlfriend? Please do not get offended by me. I am just taking a guy's point of view.
Well, I believe the reason would be simple - companionship.
Most of my friends that I know more often than not, use this as a point to defend their finding of their girlfriends. Well, i do not rebuke that companionship is indeed needed. Their girlfriends could give them moral support, support their decisions, go through their ups and downs and in other words, be a part of their lives.
However, girls with these personalities are few and far inbetween and to some extend and exaggeration, to find a needle in a haysack.
Why my sexist remarks? Am i an anti-female male who enjoys putting no value to my fellow Homo sapien counterpart? Fortunately or sadly, depending on if u agree with me or not, i am NOT an anti-female male. Infact, i embrace females for all the things in life they have to do when they are in the working world. But now, ladies in the teenage years, think again.
I have second-hand experience of relationships gone wrong. Teenage girls wheeping for no apparent reason. Threat of suicide. Threat of ending a relationship. Teenage girls blaming their boyfriend of almost anything. Teenage girls who think that just because they have some looks act like they are the queen or somewhere along that hierarchy.
COME ON MAN!!
I have recently seen a scene that fully supports my stand. It was at a bustop. There was this girl, must be no older than 15 or 16. She had make-up on. Heavy make up. I was thinking that she must really be something, given her fashion sense.
Then, I saw the horror side of her. She opened her mouth and managed to spew out a string of vulgarities that caught me by surprise. I knew that these vulgarities existed, but not to the extend where by each vulgarity is so beautiful linked up to each other such that it becomes a whole new word itself with lots of syllabus.
Following which, she asked a guy to hold something or do something for her, which i am sure that was done very reluctantly. I pitied that guy for being a slave of such girls. You think its bad? Think again. As i found out later, she was actually the girlfriend of my secondary school mate. The guy that she was 'bullying' was not even related at all, except for the fact that yes, they may be friends.
After the so called sexist remarks, i shall proceed on to pen down my thoughts about my own gender. The male Homo sapien.
Basically, there are two types of friends that i know. I shall not name who.
The first type would be those who successfully jio-ed (hitched) a girl after trying hard and those who no matter what they do, cannot seem to get one. (i think i belong to the second genre :S)
Friends who hitched a girl successfully tend to be very attentive to their needs, conforming and accomodating to their every demand. This is a good thing, of course.
But, there are always 2 side to things.
By being so accomodating, the guy ends up being a person who exist just to please their princesses i should say. He becomes devoided of feelings, in other sense, robotic. Unless girls just want someone whom they can command, otherwise i do not see how they can commit themselves to their partners.
Next, are guys who seem to live for 1 reason. Their modus operandi: to get a girl. It is as though it is their only goal in life. However, more often than not, they do not succeed in doing so either because they are not daring enough to take the first move, or simply they are not a girl's person. After which, they will keep harping on girls and whatsnot that could bore me to death. I mean since its not fated to be, why even bother? What is so bad about singlehood?
I am currently 18 years old. I have never had a girlfriend or been in any sort of relationship entanglement. Yet, i am happy about it. No commitments, no early henpecking early in my life, no controlling by her, no pleasing her through monetary gifts. Yes, i am sure those singles out there who are proud of their status get the idea.
Allow me to continue where i left off. As i was saying, guys that who want girls for the sake of wanting to boast and to have them. After they get the girls, they lose the interest in girls, giving her the cold shoulder. After which, they might lose interest in guys and become attracted to people of the same sex as them. I am not making this up. I have information regarding girls turning lesbian. In case you are wondering, i am not insulting them or discriminating against them. Just full of pitiness for them, having been the end product of a relationship that leads to nothing.
Nevertheless, there have been people who are happy about their new status; as being attached. Both partners are committed to each other, willing to share each others joy and sorrow, supporting each other no matter what they do, giving them privacy and not being glued to their partners, allowing mistakes etc. But the most important element is that they accept that nobody is perfect and should never be, since its only human to err.
P.S. I think i might have offended friends and people who read my posting. Please don't feel insulted or something. I am just writing my 2 cents worth.
Renovation works suck and...
Friday, April 01, 2005
I am glad that i was not awakened by the cacophony of noises that was steadily streaming out of the renovation works in a unit not far from my house today.
-Yesterday-
It was not very often that i wanted to study on a quiet afternoon. However, as fate has it, the sound of drills and whatsnot kept intruding my house, as though no regard for my privacy. To further compound my fustration, I was rudely awakened by it early in the morning at 9 am. Early. I had slept at 2am the previous night, leaving only 7 hours of sleep from the time i fell into sleep till the time i woke up.
IT WAS NOT ENOUGH!
By the time i was fully conscious at about 10am, i had a throbbing headache. I thought of brushing it aside and concentrating on my exam that falls on monday.
DAMN! The incessant noises invaded my house again, making something short of a hearing-challenged person unable to concentrate, and if I may say, go crazy.
Deciding not to bear with the noise anymore, I decided to leave my house to enjoy the company of my friends, whom i had rejected their calling for me to go hang out with them before the cursed renovation began.
It was a fun day, pretty much, as compared to being coped up at home alone with nothing but 4 walls and the vibrations in the air with wavelengths and frequencies for company
We watched the horror movie 'Eye 10'. Surprisingly, I gave minimum resistance against my friends who were pro Eye 10ers. I probably had my resistance reduced due to the mind throbbing headache that had accompanied me since I was rudely awakened in the morning.
They are all my friends whom I knew from my secondary school days, with the exception of may, who was my primary 3 friend.
Anyway, yea Eye 10. It was not a very good show in my opinion, probably due to my dislike for ghost/horror/supernatural since I became a movie goer.
These closely bonded friends, or idiots I would call them if they existed, actually wanted to engage the supernatural. It might have been for the thrill of it, or simply for the sake of wanting to see ghosts.
The irony is that the characters were from HongKong, a chinese country with a majority of them belonging to the superstitious chinese dialect of Cantonese. I guess the chinese phrase ni ke xing qi you, wu ke xing qi wu, when roughly translated to English means its better to be safe than sorry, does not apply here.
For those interested in the 10 ways as stated in the movie, I am sorry to tell you that I have no intention of stating them in this blog. Recalling them just give me the chills.
On a rating of 1 to 10, I would give it a 3.5 and 8. Why the large discrepancy in grades. Wait, why are there 2 grades in the first place some might wonder. Well, the first grade of 3.5 is derived when compared with other nicer movies that I have seen (probably cause they happen to fall in the genre that I like). For example, finding nemo, home on the range, fighter in the wind, independence day so yea, you get the idea. The higher grade of 8 is awarded to this movie because i found this movie to be one of the better horror movies. Don't ask which movie i used as a benchmark. I am afraid of offending horror show supporters who might use the methods they learnt in the movie on me.
JUST KIDDING.
-Back to reality-
After the movie, we went for late lunch. I was shocked to know that may actually gave samuel's number to her sister to sell insurance to! So yea, her sister came with her future brother-in-law to sort of 'psycho' or brainwash samuel to sign up for a savings plan. I shall not name the company for privacy's sake.
Little did they know, our dearing sweeming is someone who has skin thick enough to repel all brain-washing methods. :P The 'brainwashing' eventually ended with nothing signed or promised and may's sister and future bro-in-law left the foodcourt.
After the session, as it was still early, we went for a game of pool. We were then joined by guoqiang, a secondary school friend, a close friend. As i have played pool with them for many times, i can roughly tell you the characteristics of each of us.
-Pool Players Skills-
Sam - has dead aim when he really concentrates, and can hit balls into the pot with seemingly impossible angles. I repeat, only if he REALLY concentrates. :P
Zh - probably the best player amongst us. Nothing much to say about him from the first statement, right? :D
Gt & May - abstained from pool
Gq - not a bad player but is rather inconsistent. Can be good for a few minutes and below average in the next few.
Me - Erm... i am not very good, occasional lucky/good shots. :D Needs much improvement!
We played for an hour or so before me, guoqiang and samuel went to the KFC for dinner. We were then joined by Halley, a friend of samuel's inwhich i am not very familiar with the former.
We finished up dinner over conversations and quicky went home.
Ahh.... doesnt seem to be a very interesting day for me. I hope you guys won't get bored by reading it.
